Meet Dr. William E. Harris
For Dr. William Harris, joining Pickering & Allen Orthodontics feels less like starting a new chapter and more like coming home.
Long before he became an orthodontist, Dr. Harris was part of the Pickering & Allen family. He first came to the practice as a patient, and then an Instrument Technician, learning the importance of exceptional patient care behind the scenes. As his passion for orthodontics grew, so did his role within the practice. Eventually he became a Treatment Coordinator, which gave him the opportunity to guide families through their smile journeys.
During those years, Dr. Harris worked alongside Dr. Pickering and Dr. Allen, learning firsthand what it means to provide orthodontic care with excellence, integrity, and genuine compassion. Those experiences not only shaped his career but also affirmed his calling to become an orthodontist and inspired the kind of doctor he strives to be today.
A Knoxville native, Dr. Harris graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Tennessee before earning his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Tennessee College of Dentistry. He continued his specialty training at Jacksonville University and completed a one-year orthodontic Fellowship followed by a two-year orthodontic Residency.
Today, Dr. Harris focuses on creating healthy, confident smiles while building strong relationships with the patients and families he serves. He believes orthodontics goes beyond straightening teeth—it’s about helping people feel comfortable and confident in their smile. By using modern orthodontic technology and proven treatment methods, he provides high-quality care in a welcoming environment.
Dr. Harris is an active member of the American Association of Orthodontists, the American Dental Association, and the Tennessee Dental Association.
After spending several years away for dental school and specialty training, Dr. Harris and his wife, Brooke, are thrilled to return home to Knoxville. Together they enjoy traveling and experiencing new cultures. They have been blessed to serve on multiple mission trips to Honduras, which have strengthened both their faith and their passion for serving others.
Outside the office, you’ll likely find Dr. Harris on the golf course, cheering on the Tennessee Volunteers, exploring East Tennessee, or trying a new local restaurant with Brooke.
